This policy explains what personal information 13182452 Canada Corp., operating as Stratus Positioning & Automation (“we”) collects through stratuspositioning.ca, why, who we share it with, and how you can see, correct or delete it. It follows Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for customers in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
Who is responsible
Our person in charge of protecting personal information is Razvan Scutaru, Principal. Write to contact@stratuspositioning.ca, call 416-909-5983, or send mail to 41 Stayner Avenue, North York, Ontario M6B 1N5.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, company, email, phone, billing and shipping address, and what you bought.
- When you pay: card payments are handled by our payment processor. We see the last four digits and the card type, never the full card number.
- When you ask for a quote, a rental or a setup package: your name, company, email, phone, and what you tell us about the machine and the job.
- When we train or support you: what you share with us on a call, by text or by email, including site or design files you send so we can prepare them.
- When you browse: pages visited, the device and browser used, and an approximate location from your IP address, through the site statistics described below. Your cart is kept with a cookie so it is still there when you come back.
Why we use it
- To process, ship and support your order, and to send the receipts and tracking that go with it.
- To prepare the quote you asked for and to book installation, training or a rental.
- To keep the records Canadian tax law requires.
- To keep forms free of spam and the site secure.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages are useful so we can improve the site.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We only send you marketing email if you ask for it, and every such email has a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Website hosting and site statistics: WordPress.com and Jetpack (Automattic).
- Payments: our card payment processor (WooPayments, powered by Stripe).
- Shipping: UPS, FedEx or DHL get your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
- Spam protection on forms: hCaptcha.
- Email and accounting: the email and bookkeeping services we use to answer you and keep our records.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to Canada’s.
Cookies
The site uses cookies to keep your cart and checkout working, to keep you signed in if you create an account, and for the site statistics above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the store will not be able to remember your cart without them.
How long we keep it
- Orders and invoices: six years after the end of the tax year they belong to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires.
- Quote, rental and support requests that did not lead to an order: 24 months after our last contact.
- Then it is deleted or made anonymous.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to the store and our email is limited to the people who need it, and card details never pass through our hands. If a privacy incident creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.
Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Withdraw your consent to a use of your information, subject to what the law or a contract still requires us to keep.
- In Quebec, you can also ask for your information in a structured, commonly used format, and ask us to stop disseminating it.
Write to contact@stratuspositioning.ca. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or in Quebec to the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Changes
If we change this policy, the new version is posted here with a new date.
